We had another awesome field day, this time with Mālama Honua Learning Center Kindergarteners through 3rd graders to kick off the new year on January 8th. The students had an exceptional learning day out in Maunalua Bay and we were even able to implement some new activities including conducting the plankton tow off of a Hui Nalu double hulled canoe and teaching the students the same star compass used by master navigator Mau Piailug. We are so grateful to our partners Olukai, Kahi Kai, Malama Aina Foundation, Polynesian Voyaging Society, Hui Nalu Canoe Club, Department of Forestry & Wildlife, Maunalua Fishpond Heritage Center, KUA, and Kanehunamoku Voyaging Academy for helping us put on a successful event.
